Gunwharf Quays and Emirates Spinnaker Tower

Topic Progress:

Gunwharf Quays is the south coast’s leading designer outlet, with over 90 famous brands and a choice of over 30 restaurants, bars and cafés.

Brands available range from stylish women’s fashion and men’s tailoring to homeware, gifts and high-performance sportswear, all at up to 60% off the RRP.  In addition, there is a 14-screen multiplex cinema, bowling alley, casino and art gallery.

Gunwharf’s waterside location provides an opportunity for a full day out with a harbour tour or RIB ride. During school holidays/seasonal weekends, children can enjoy time on the water with Miniports, with its variety of electric boats.

The Guest Relations Suite in Central Square provides visitors with all the information they may need. Visitors can collect Centre and Dining Guides, purchase gift cards, and make enquiries about offers and local attractions. The suite also operates lost and found, lost children and is a first aid point, as well as assisting with the centre’s Shop Mobility programme.

For those arriving by car there is a large, award-winning underground car park, or those arriving on the water can book into the centre’s very own marina. Gunwharf Quays is also well located for public transport, with the train and bus station next door, ferries to the Isle of Wight and Gosport on either side, and the hovercraft a ten-minute walk away.

Emirates Spinnaker Tower, the stunning 170-metre icon of the south coast, offers views of up to 23 miles (across Portsmouth, the Solent and beyond) from its 350-degree panoramic windows. Visitors can discover the secrets of this fascinating sea and landscape with the animated pre-show and the interactive i-view interpretation screens.

The brave can venture across the glass Sky Walk and watch boats bobbing about below, before heading up to the Sky Garden with its open roof.

The Clouds, located 105 metres above the harbour, offers pre-bookable packages including a traditionally British High Tea or Ticket & Sparkles. There’s also the Waterfront Café on the ground floor, which offers a range of hot and cold drinks and meals.

Emirates Spinnaker Tower hosts year-round events, including abseiling and evening entertainment. Tickets for these, and for general admission, can be purchased in advance on the website. Pre-booked admission tickets offer a discount on the walk-up prices.

The viewing platforms are accessible by lift, making the tower open to those with visual or mobility impairments. However, the Sky Deck is only accessible by stairs. Due to fire and safety procedures, visitors with mobility impairments who can use the staircase with some assistance may be admitted a maximum of two visitors at a time. Those visitors who could not use the staircase are limited to one visitor at any time. Here, advance booking is recommended.
